A Fort McMurray casino under PURE
Rivers Casino & Entertainment Centre sits at 9825 Hardin St., Fort McMurray, Alberta T9H 4G9. The phone number is 780-790-9739. It bills itself as at the heart of Fort McMurray since 1978. It is an Alberta charity casino, and Alberta is the only province where charitable organizations are licensed to conduct and manage casino events. By its own count, it has helped raise funds for over 300 registered charities.
PURE Casino Entertainment has run the venue since June 2026. The sale closed June 24, 2026, when Indigenous Gaming Partners, through Pure Casino Entertainment Limited Partnership, acquired Gamehost Inc. That Alberta portfolio included Rivers, Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary and Great Northern Casino in Grande Prairie. For guests it is business as usual, and the name is unchanged. In this guide, Rivers appears on the North region page.
On the floor and around it
- Slots: over 400 machines on a coinless floor. Ticket-in/ticket-out means the machines take and print paper tickets instead of coins, and there are provincial and local progressive slots.
- Live tables: Blackjack, Free Bet Blackjack, Roulette and a Texas Hold'em table game. AGLC also lists electronic table games, which run on screens rather than with a live dealer, and no VLTs (video lottery terminals).
- Poker: the room has 3 poker tables. This guide lists no racing or off-track betting at Rivers.
- Food and drink: the Rapids Showroom & Lounge serves full breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, headed Rivers Cafe.
- Showroom and events: the Rapids showroom has live music weekly. Private events and parties for 4 to 250 guests take place in the showroom area.
- Loyalty card: Winner's Edge is AGLC's province-wide program, with points on slot machines and electronic table games. Rivers gives it its own page on the venue site.
Before you go
Entry is for adults 18 or older, the legal gambling age in Alberta. Staff must check valid government-issued photo ID for anyone who appears to be under 25, so carry it. A GameSense Information Centre is on site for questions about responsible gaming.
Opening hours are in the "Plan your visit" table beside the map, and holiday hours can differ, so check with the venue before setting out.
