A northwest Edmonton casino
PURE Casino Yellowhead stands at 12464 153 St NW, in northwest Edmonton close to St. Albert. It sits just off Yellowhead Trail, which is Highway 16, near 149 Street. The casino opened in 2000. At 75,000 sq ft in 2023, it was the largest of PURE's four original casinos. In this guide it belongs to the Edmonton area page, next to PURE Casino Edmonton on Argyll Rd NW.
The operator is PURE Canadian Gaming, whose roots go back to Alberta Bingo Supplies Ltd., founded in 1973. Trading as Casino ABS, it was bought by ONCAP in 2011 and took the PURE name in 2013. In January 2023, VICI Properties bought the real estate, and PURE kept running the casino under a 25-year triple-net lease. Since December 2024, PURE has belonged to Indigenous Gaming Partners, formed by five Nova Scotia Mi'kmaw communities.
On the floor and around it
- Slots and VLTs: in 2023 the floor counted 753 slot machines and 26 VLTs. A VLT is a video lottery terminal.
- Table games: the same 2023 count listed 24 table games.
- Poker: 15 poker tables were part of that 2023 count. In poker, players compete against each other rather than the house.
- Pearl Showroom: an 18+ show room with a full-service bar and food and drink served at the seats.
- Winner's Edge: AGLC's province-wide loyalty program, which earns points on carded play at slots and electronic table games. Carded play means your card is inserted so the machine records your play.
- Pure Rewards: PURE's own program runs side by side with Winner's Edge. Its benefits extend to food and drink.
